Skydiving for my 60th

As a celebrant, I don’t get an awful lot of free time to do things like travelling, so as my 60th birthday approached, I wanted to do something memorable, but not time consuming.

Then I had the idea – a Tandem Skydive – Perfect!

I’ve never done one before, but I have been for flights in 2 seater and 4 seater planes, and a helicopter, but the most exciting was going up in a 2 seater Microlight, I thought it was fantastic! up with the birds, not encased in anything, sitting on a little motorbike engine with just a wing above my head.

I guess I must have always had a bit of a daredevil within me.

But this time my exploits will be for charity – 3 charities actually, all are local and mean a lot to me.

First is for Black Cat Radio – this community radio station, run totally by volunteers, is the voice of St Neots, my hometown. It is entertaining and informative, it covers all local communities and events, and champions local people and organisations who do extraordinary things, as well as playing a variety of eclectic and brilliant music.

Second is The Angels Foundation – this charity helps women and young families who have found the courage to flee domestic abuse and violence. Their focus is on helping to make whatever accommodation they are allocated into a home. Most premises are stripped bare, and the victims are practically penniless. The Angel Foundation will assist with sourcing and providing essential items such as white goods, flooring, beds and basic furniture.

Third is the Sue Ryder, St John’s Hospice in Moggerhanger – This wonderful care facility provides end of life care and respite care to families who need support for their loved ones. They provide excellent care with dignity and respect, often going above and beyond for their patients. This work is vital and relies on charitable donations to survive.

My aim is to raise as much money for these charities as possible. The skydive itself is fully funded by myself, all the monies raised will go directly to the charity. There are links for Black Cat Radio and The Angels Foundation pages to enable online donations. Any cash raised will go to, and be handed directly to St John’s myself.

If you would like to support my goal to raise £300 for each charity, please get in touch or follow the links in order to donate.

Thank you for reading this and your prospective donations.
